Planning the world’s biggest windfarm…
Axial started work this month on Hornsea Two – once completed in 2020 the project will be the largest offshore windfarm in the world, producing enough energy to power one million homes.
Located off the Yorkshire coast, Hornsea Project Two will span a huge area of approximately 407 square kilometres. The offshore wind farm will use 7 megawatt (MW) wind turbines, with each one 190 metres tall. Axial have been subcontracted to supply their AxiPlan toolkit and expertise to Korean company LS Cable and Systems and their ultimate client Orsted as they install the world’s longest powerline, a 900km cable route.
Axial Director Tony Bullivant had this to say. “We are excited to branch out into what is a new industry for us and demonstrate our programme management capability to a new client in a fresh environment. We look forward to supporting our new partners in this venture.”
